After suffering a severe injury to my radial head in **July 2024**, I was faced with one of the most challenging recoveries of my life — not only **physically ** but also **emotionally **. After undergoing a radial head replacement, I needed to choose where to begin therapy. Between the hospital’s therapy department and a private therapy center, the name *Hands and Occupational Therapy* stood out. I imagined it would be a large, impersonal clinic, but to my pleasant surprise, it was a **small, warm, and intimate space ** that instantly felt welcoming.

On my very first day, I met **Amber**, who was kind but firm. She made it clear that elbow injuries are **slow to heal ** and that following her instructions precisely was key to my recovery. I’ll admit — I questioned nearly every exercise and recommendation along the way — but Amber and **Keith** were patient, encouraging, and reassuring every step of the way. They promised I could regain about **90% of my mobility**, if I stayed committed to the process.

Now, **one year later **, I can honestly say I’m functioning **pain-free and stronger than ever **. My spirit, which felt broken after the accident, has healed right alongside my arm. I owe that to the care, expertise, and genuine compassion I received from the entire team.

I **highly recommend** Hands and Occupational Therapy!  They are more than just skilled professionals — they’re **like family **. The atmosphere is friendly, loving, and filled with hope. I will forever be grateful for the part they played in helping me heal both physically and emotionally.

1. Paradise

I was involved in a car accident in February and suffered a bad break of my right wrist.  After surgery to repair it, my Ortho doctor recommended occupational therapy to regain mobility in my wrist and hand.  I chose to use the Hand and Occupational Therapy Center.  My hand and wrist were so stiff when my cast was removed that I was worried about ever regaining full use of my right (dominant) hand.  At my initial appointment at Hand and Occupational Therapy Center, Keith Brannen quickly put me at ease and gave me hope for recovery.  He worked with me to regain flexibility and strength in my wrist and hand and eventually my right shoulder. The entire staff is very professional, knowledgeable, encouraging and kind. The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful. By the end of my therapy, I regained most of my strength and flexibility and was confident I could do the recommended exercises at home to continue to progress. I would highly recommend Hand and Occupational Therapy Center  to anyone in Montgomery and surrounding areas needing occupational therapy.

I can’t thank Hand and Occupational Therapy Center enough for helping me with both hands and now my shoulders. After having multiple hand surgeries I found Hand and Occupational Therapy to be very skilled, knowledgeable, and creative with helping me gain strength and use of my hands. I was involved in a bad motorcycle accident resulting in multiple hand surgeries. Keith and the staff at Hand & Occupational Therapy Center are the absolute best at what they do ! I went through almost 2 years of therapy and found them to be very knowledgeable and thorough in what they do. They are genuinely concerned about their patients and I would not have come as far as I have without their wonderful care. I would highly recommend them to anyone requiring therapy.

After fracturing my right humerus, I was found to have nerve injury to the arm and hand. I had.PT elsewhere which did help to improve my shoulder and arm movement. After about two months and having no improvement in wrist or hand movement or control I was referred to Hand and Occupational Therapy. And that was the best thing that could’ve happened. I worked mostly with Amber and Keith, although I saw Amy and Shirley as well on occasion. It took about nine months to start feel like I was really making some progress. But with their encouragement and continued care, I knew that I would achieve what I was after and that was being independent again. I continued with therapy for almost 17 months before I could return to work. Even though I work part-time, what I do is part of my identity and I love it. So my goal all along was to be able to return to that. And they helped me achieve that goal Bobbi was excellent as well. She always worked with me as far as scheduling and with insurance issues. And just such a friendly face, always

From the very first time I walked into the clinic, Keith and the rest of the staff at Hand & Occupational Therapy Center were so friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I broke three fingers and a knuckle while playing collegiate softball, and I was told by the team doctor that I may not ever be able to make a fist again. Once I started working with the staff, they improved my movement tremendously. They worked with me one on one to make sure I was back on the softball field as quickly as possible. Each therapist encouraged me to perform my best every appointment so I could quickly get back to living my best life and doing everything I wished to do. Therapy at HOTC has been a game changing experience for me during a time when I thought I would not gain function of my hand ever again. I suffered severe burns over my right dominant arm/hand . They gave me hope and the tools needed  to regain independence in order to perform essential day to day activities safely.  They supported and customized exercises that have significantly improved my strength and functionality. This is truly a family environment full of  very supportive, patient and understanding therapists who allow you to heal at your pace but also push you to your fullest potential.

The staff at Hand and Occupational Therapy Center have been outstanding. They helped me to regain normal use of my shoulder, elbow, and wrist after a severe accident. I now have normal use of each joint and I am pain free. Every staff member is very professional yet friendly, demanding yet compassionate!

I’m thankful my doctor referred me to Hand and Occupational Therapy Center. I had a bad fall shattering my elbow, broke my ulna and radius. After surgery I needed therapy. My first visit I was so nervous not knowing what to expect. Shirley was patient and caring taking time to explain what to expect. I could never say thank you enough to Keith and staff at Hand and Occupational Therapy, they changed my life. I had a spinal cord injury in my neck due to an accident on a bulldozer in December 2021. After being released from UAB after a 4 month stay I soon started OT with H&OT. When I started I could do very little with my hands because of loss of feeling, strength and movement. I credit their knowledge of my condition, exercises taylored just me and personal 1 on 1 therapists for the drastic improvement I made while there. I went from basically no function in hands to being able to perform most day to day duties currently. They will always have a special place in my heart for the treatment I received as well as friendships made.

After breaking my right wrist on December 17, 2022, my journey to recovery was far from easy. I underwent surgery on December 19 to have a plate and screws placed, but two months later, a CT scan revealed that the volar plate was significantly off the bone, and one of the screws was in the distal radial ulnar joint. I had to undergo a second surgery on February 28, 2023 to remove the hardware, but even after that, I struggled with pain, limited motion, and ongoing shoulder discomfort.

That’s when I was referred to William Keith Brannen, my amazing occupational hand therapist, and I can’t express how grateful I am for his care. From day one, he was incredibly patient, kind, and knowledgeable, always making me feel supported throughout my recovery. He took the time to warm my hand and shoulder, introduced me to different exercises and stretching techniques, and used ultrasound therapy, dry needling, massage, and even Fluidotherapy (warm sand machine) to help relieve my pain.

Beyond his professional expertise, what made the experience truly special was his wonderful personality. Whether we were stretching my hand or using the ultrasound, we would chat about our kids, pets, and everyday life. Those conversations helped take my mind off the pain and made each session something to look forward to.

I am so very grateful for William “Keith” Brannen at Hand and Occupational Center. He is so gifted and skilled! He cares so much for his patients. Keith has basically worked a miracle on my right hand (which I injured lifting a heavy object the wrong way) and now I do not need surgery! He is amazing! When my Ortho scheduled surgery I asked him to refer me to PT and then canceled my surgical appt. The Hand center was on the list with all the other Physical Therapy centers and I am so glad I chose Keith! I own a Yoga Studio and teach Yoga for a living.
